Psalm 119:15 says, "I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways."

In the Bible, the term "precepts" means a commandment or an instruction about how to behave. When you spend time meditating on how God has instructed us to live and consider His character, it becomes clear that His instructions are made out of love for us. He knows the secrets to living a life free from anxiety and worry, and He knows the secrets to living a life where you are thriving. He wants to help us live that way. He wants to protect us from making mistakes that He knows will hurt us. He wants to help us avoid falling into the trap of worshipping what the world worships or finding our value and sense of worth where the world says we can find it.

As Christians, especially as Christian parents, it is crucial to meditate on the instructions the Lord has given us. He will not lead us astray. He has provided us with guidance on how to live a godly life, a life that honors Him. But He has also promised to help us along the way. Although this calling can feel daunting, remember that the Lord does not condemn us when we inevitably fail, because God's character is full of love and grace for us.

As parents, our days are filled with numerous responsibilities, challenges, and joys. In the midst of this busyness, it's essential to take time to meditate on God's precepts and fix our eyes on His ways. This verse invites us to intentionally focus on God's teachings and align our lives with His guidance.

Here are a few practical ways to incorporate this practice into your daily life as a parent:

1. Morning Meditation: Start your day with a few minutes of quiet time, reading and reflecting on a Bible verse or passage. This sets a positive tone for the day and reminds you of God's presence and guidance.

2. Scripture in the Home: Place Bible verses around your home, where you and your family can see them frequently. This constant reminder helps keep God's word at the forefront of your mind.

3. Family Devotions: Set aside time for family devotions. This can be a time of reading the Bible, discussing its teachings, and praying together. It reinforces the importance of God's word in your family's life.

4. Prayer Walks: Incorporate prayer walks into your routine. As you walk, meditate on God's precepts and pray for your family, friends, and community.

5. Modeling: Demonstrate a life of meditation and consideration of God's ways to your children. Let them see you reading the Bible, praying, and seeking God's guidance in your decisions.

6. Grace and Patience: Remember to extend grace to yourself and your children. Understand that meditating on God's precepts is a journey, and it’s okay to have moments of struggle. God's love and grace cover us in these moments.

By intentionally meditating on God's precepts and considering His ways, we align our lives with His divine guidance. This not only enriches our personal spiritual journey but also sets a powerful example for our children, helping them grow in their faith and understanding of God's love and grace.
