Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” This verse, part of Jesus' Beatitudes, speaks about the deep desire to live a life that reflects God’s truth, justice, and love. To hunger and thirst for righteousness is not just about doing the right thing—it’s about cultivating a longing for God’s heart and aligning your life with His will.

As parents, this verse challenges us to evaluate our desires, not only for ourselves but also for our families. What are we prioritizing in our homes? Are we fostering an environment where righteousness is pursued, where love for God and others takes center stage? When we hunger for righteousness, we set a powerful example for our children, showing them the value of seeking God's will in all areas of life—whether through acts of kindness, standing up for justice, or displaying compassion and mercy.

The promise here is beautiful: *“they will be filled.”* God doesn’t leave us empty in our pursuit of Him. When we deeply desire righteousness, He meets us in that longing. He fills us with His Spirit, His wisdom, and His strength, equipping us for the challenging yet rewarding journey of parenting. This filling brings not only satisfaction but also light into our families. By pursuing righteousness, we become beacons of God’s love and truth to our children and to those around us.

In the ups and downs of daily life, let Matthew 5:6 serve as a reminder to keep your focus on what truly matters. Hunger for God’s righteousness and trust that He will continually fill you with all you need to fulfill His purpose in your life and in your role as a parent.
